Élégante Simplicité

See english message below.

It’s with great pleasure that we invite you to the opening reception for the photography of Micaël Savoie.  The reception will be held at 7pm the 5th of November, at the Père-Maurice-Leblanc gallery, 725 College St. Bathurst.  For the occasion, wine and cheese will be served accompanied with music performed by artist Jimmy Abud.

Micael Savoie is a young photographer impassioned by the aesthetics of the world around him. Through the lens of his camera, he perceives simple beauty but of an absolute elegance which shapes the whole of his works. His natural talent for framing and his exceptional control of lighting, enable him to redefine the meaning of elegance. At first glance, his works speaks to the soul allowing the often forgotten voices deep within to speak aloud.

For those who can’t make it for the opening reception, the gallery will be open to visitors until December 19th.

We appreciate your time and look forward to seeing you at the opening reception.

Mount Katahdin

This was my second time in that area, the first time was whitewater rafting with my father which was a great experience.  At that time we had done 3 rivers, the Kennebec, Dead River and Penobscot.  Last weekend I went with two friends to climb the mountain and do a bit of photo shoot in that gorgeous location, especially at this time of the year with all the colored leaves.

Unfortunately, after climbing about 3,000 feet to get to Chimney Pond the warden told us that we couldn’t go any further because of all the ice accumulation on top of the mountain.   It was just common sense not to climb.  We headed back down while snow/rain was pouring on us, back at the car, soaking wet a laundromat was our best option.

We though that maybe if weather could turn the other way around we might have a chance to climb it the day after, once we got back to the Baxter State Park gate they advised us there was no possibility for the following day.   Driving around the park to Daicey Pond and Kidney Pond we noticed Mount OJI, at least, we thought it was.  The hike to climb up was challenging at some point, at the top the view was breathtaking and again, wind and snow.

This shot has been taken on our way back home on Sunday, taken around 7h15 off HWY 95.
